Call of Duty: WW2 – Reveal Trailer

Here we go, our first look at Call of Duty – WW2, this much awaited return to the series roots in the most pivotal conflict in human history.

I’ll sum up my thoughts here: It looks awesome! Now, I’m not one to fall in to all kinds of hype – I know things always look their best in such promotional materials and then when you actually get them, they are never quite as good, save for a few special moments, if you’re lucky.

Still, I like what I see here. The detail is amazing, the “feeling” of World War 2 seems correct, and thanks to the dozens of games set in this setting, and my vast research into World War 2 over the years, the setting feels familiar (not that World War 2 should ever be something “familiar” to a person, still…)

I’m not a Call of Duty snob – I like the games on their own bases for what they are, give or take, and already considering how mature the general game engine for CoD is, I can only imagine this game playing amazingly. I’ve already seen people complain that the game looks like Battlefield 1: This is hilarious considering that it’s 2 separate wars that are quite different, and it also goes to prove the joke people had said for years that Call of Duty was just the same game over and over for nearly a decade – every game literally looked identical (hell, I still can’t tell footage of Black Ops 1 from Black Ops 2.)

This is just a reveal trailer, so I can’t say too much about it beyond what I see and feel from it, but as I said, I know I like what I see. I’m sure it will be a wonderful game – I just wish people would temper their expectations, tone down the hype, and just appreciate things for what they are.

Enjoy.
