July 2016 Xbox Live Games With Gold

Wow, I’m a little late for this one aren’t I? Read the previous article if you need to know why, but that’s not the point. The point is, as always, new month, new set of free games with an active Xbox Live Gold Membership.

Comments this month are.. something else. People are constantly complaining about the titles chosen, and whether or not the games really are “free”. I’m not going to touch on the latter here, but to address the former real quickly: Yes, I often think the game choices are pretty bland, with some top tier games being thrown in, but a game is a game, and if all they ever gave you were classic AAA titles that most people already own anyway, what would be the point really?

Whatever. Let’s get to it.

Xbox One

The Banner Saga 2

Alright, another tactical game? Cool. I’m not the most skilled at these kinds of games but I do enjoy the genre, probably more than I should for someone who isn’t the best at such. While nothing will beat Civilization 2 for me in the form of quality gameplay, this should be a nice addition when I finally feel like playing it.

Tumblestone

Puzzle games are fun. That simple. I can tell this game seems to take inspiration from Columns and Magical Drop, two other classic puzzle games I adore (seriously, you have no idea how much I like Magical Drop, go check it out if you haven’t already!) Looks like a fun one from what little I know of it.

Xbox 360

Rainbow 6 Vegas 2

Ah, Rainbow 6, the spec-ops FPS series that everyone loves. I’ve never played a one of them but I’m certain it’s a quality title, so, I’ll check it out when I feel the urge. This is the one title most people actually are excited about this time around. Me? I’m just sitting here like “okay, another shooter, cool.” Give me something exotic, maybe…

Tron: Evolution

Ah, Tron, a film I loved as a kid, and still enjoy. I still have yet to see the sequel, so maybe I should watch that then check this game out. It looks like fun, and looks to capture the Tron universe well. I dare say I’m more excited for this than Rainbow 6, but that’s just the gamer I am.

And that’s that for another month. Not bad, but nothing too great. Still, as they say, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Try to make the most of what’s being given this month, and have a fun time everyone!
