March 2016 Xbox Live Games With Gold

It’s that time of the month again; Microsoft has told us what the new Games With Gold will be for March 2016. For those who don’t know, Games With Gold is Microsoft’s free games program with a paid Xbox Live Gold Subscription; 2 games for the Xbox One, and 2 games for the Xbox 360. Those 360 games, for the past few months, have also been games that are playable on the Xbox One, meaning Xbox One owners get 4 free games per month. In an added bonus, even if you don’t own an Xbox One yet, you can still redeem the game free, and when you get the console, you will be able to download it to your new console.

I have actually been wanting to start talking about these games each month, but I have been delayed in doing this. This month, that changes, and each month I will be publishing my thoughts on the new free games coming to the service.

Let’s begin with the official video for this months Games With Gold!

Looks like a darn good lineup – certainly much better than some months in the past year!

Alright, let’s look at this one game at a time!

Xbox One:

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment

I don’t know too much offhand about this title, but I’m getting the vibe of L.A Noir here. A Sherlock Holmes crime solving game seems an obvious one, but it will be more interesting to see if it has been done correctly. I’m not too interested, but I know at some point I will give this one a shot.

Lords Of The Fallen

This is one of those games that I’ve been interested in getting for my Xbox One, and now the chance to get it for free is awesome. Looking to be quite the high-end fantasy adventure, this might be the perfect title for those nights where I just want to escape all reality on my Xbox One.

Xbox 360:

Supreme Commander 2

Supreme Commander 2 has also caught my eye before, but I’ve never really looked into it too much. Real Time Strategy is a genre I like, although I may not be too good at them, so I see no reason I won’t at least check this one out.

Borderlands

Here we have the big daddy for this months Games With Gold: Borderlands. This is a game I actually have a physical copy of, and I play it on both my 360 and Xbox One. That being said, I will still redeem it for free on here because, there is no reason not to.

What I’m wondering is, since borderlands, on the Xbox One, gives you the DLC for free, will the same be said of those who download it via this method? Keep in mind this included-DLC is only for when you play on the Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility, and not on the 360, but it’s still worth it to have on any console you own because, Borederlands really is just that good of a game.

And that is that! looks like a diverse lineup of more quality games than in prior months. Even if you aren’t interested in playing any of these games now, do at least redeem them and download them later, since, of course, they are yours to keep! You never know when that old dusty digital download might be just the thing you are looking for.

Happy Gaming Everyone!
