Metro Exodus – Again, Into The Radioactive Wastes We Go

The Metro games have quite the cult following among fans of the post-apocalyptic genre. While Fallout is the most prominent example of the genre, there are many, many different game series that use similar settings: the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series being my personal favorites.

There is a very similar yet still unique series, though, based off a set of books with the same name titled Metro. These games (and the aforementioned stories) take place in Russia after nuclear war, in a time when the remaining people are living in the subway systems of major cities (hence the “Metro” title) trying to survive – to go to the surface means new resources, yes, but also means risking death via either radiation and other toxic materials left from the war, or death by mutants: that is, both of these at a rate higher than the still present risk of such underground!

I’m not going to lie – I’ve barely played the first 2 Metro games. I haven’t quite been in the mood for them, even though I got them with my Xbox One, but when I do get into them, I know I’m in for a treat. To that end, this third game in the series looks to be more of an open world game, whereas the first two were more segmented, story driven experiences. This should prove interesting and provide a very Stalker like game, which is something I’ve been really missing since completing the final in the trilogy back in 2010…

Enjoy this footage. Game release expected in 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One, and Windows. Needless to say, I’ll be getting the Xbox One version , and maybe the PC version if I happen to like it enough to want to buy it again 😉
