Next Years 2K Sports Titles To Not Be Released On The Last Generation Of Game Consoles

This past week 2K Games did their announcement of the first of their sports games for this next year: WWE 2K18. The primary thing from the announcement (at least that I see, hell it could have been the main point for all I know) was simply that Seth Rollins would be on the cover (because, the person on the cover of a video game box is important, right?) but the announcement also stated that the game would not be available on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

About fucking time.

If you don’t have a PS4 or an XBox One, you won’t be playing the next 2K sports titles!

The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are coming up on their 12th and 11th years respectively of life – the systems are ancient in gaming terms – while still find platforms, they are old hardware that’s more than had it’s limits reached by most software publishers, and so old that the required processors, ram types, and other components to manufacture them are no longer being made, or are so uncommon as to make systems more expensive to produce than they used to be!

It only makes sense finally, after all these years, to let these systems die gracefully, and while many publishers have already abandoned these old platforms, the 2K sports titles are some of the last holdout.. or were.

While we only know this is the case for sure with WWE 2K18, we can safely say this will be the same for NBA and NFL releases for 2018.

….

…..

While I’ve got your attention… if you are a fan of these series, the games won’t be released until around October of 2017, and also, when asking for them, please ask for them by their full name – store owners are not your friends and don’t know what you mean by “I want 2K” as that’s the company name, not the name of the game – not enough of the title, anyway, for a person who doesn’t know you to magically be able to tell what sport you are talking about!
