NROL-37 Delta IV Heavy Launch 360 Degree View

This video, released a few weeks ago, is an amazing way to experience Junes NROL-37 launch, via use of full 360 degree cameras placed around the launch complex. It’s exactly as it sounds, no more, no less: multiple views of the launch, with you being able to look around much like you were there.

360 degree video is one of those few technologies that actually impresses me – hell, I somewhat don’t think I fully understand how it all comes together and works, but regardless, usage like this is something else. You can follow the rocket upwards, or take a look at what the exhaust plume is doing to the ground as the booster travels. You can see debris fly around you, grass fires start, and more.

Really, the best thing you can do is just watch it – I prefer viewing this on a standard computer, as I don’t know how your cell phone would handle the video, but if it does work for you, then that’s all the better!
