State of Decay 2 – Zombie Smashing Fun

I absolutely loved the original State of Decay when I played it on the Xbox One in late 2015 or so – while it was originally a 360 title, the Xbox One version contained all the expansion content and was a nice, physical collection – convenient, to say the least.

It was the first game in a long time I just sat down for a week and played, completing the main game after quite a few tense moments… it was a thrill I hadn’t had gaming in quite a long time. The game was somewhat straightforward, sure, and a little repetitive, but that was what gave a charm – I could just sit back and enjoy it without feeling like I have to suddenly learn a new game each section, like some other games are these days, always throwing something completely random at you.

It was one of the few games in the already well overblown “zombie” genre that felt right to me – I could imagine this is why people watch The Walking Dead, the character dramas combined with the drive to survive and the need to work together worked well in the game, and it was just all around fun. I really should get back to it.

The Sequel, here, looks to be much of the same, but naturally improved – honestly it looks quite brutal, to boot, and while nothing here seems new at first glance, I’m certain it’s been polished beyond what it was in the original game to be something awesome!

Be sure to check out the original, if you haven’t already; I’d say it’s worth it.
