The Most Hated Video Game Trailer Ever – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

When I wrote last month about the trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, I never knew it would get as hated as it has been. Oh yes, a Call of Duty game is receiving massive hate. What a time to be alive!

The trailer on the official Call of Duty YouTube Channel has over 2 million dislikes!

That’s right. You are looking at over 2 million dislikes!

Okay, so the real question is, what could possobly make people hate this trailer this much? It looks like a solid presentation, and Call of Duty games have traditionally been good titles (depending on the game, and depending on who you ask, of course) so you have to wonder what the issue is?

Simply put, space battle science fiction is not what most people think of with Call of Duty; The grit of World War 2, post-Soviet spy missions, and crazy World War 3 scenarios are the normal themes of the games since about 2008. Sure, a few games have gone super futuristic, mostly recent titles like Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3, but Infinite Warfare seems to have “jumped the shark” as they say, and fans are letting it be known. Indeed, most people say it looks more like the sci-fi shooter series Halo than it does anything Call of Duty.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that with special editions of the game you will get a remastered version of Call of Duty 4, one of the best selling games of the past decade, and as I stated in my previous article, the game which really made Call of Duty a major franchise. People are super excited for this, more than they are for Infinite Warfare itself, to the point where people are joking about it being Call of Duty 4 Remastered with Infinite Warfare as the bonus item.

It’s sad, but these things happen sometimes. Infinity Ward looks like it has messed up, and Activision needs to find a way soon to fix this little issue, Otherwise, who knows what the future holds for Call of Duty.
