It’s been a while since we took a trip back to 1989 and these old tapes discussing strategies on various games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, so we might as well get back to em! In this case, Volume 1, Tape 7. This tape features the games: A Boy And His Blob, Rolling Thunder, Castlevania, …

The Death Of Toys-R-Us
Back in September of last year, toy retail chain Toys-R-Us filed for bankruptcy. At the time, everyone across the internet, in their complete lack of comprehension on how anything works, proclaimed the end of the company, and began wondering when stores would start closing. This wasn’t the case at the time – far from it. …

The Computer Chronicles – Fifth Generation Computers (1984)
This is a rather interesting, albeit outright strange episode of the Computer Chronicles. It discuses a concept known as the “Fifth Generation Computer” which when you first hear it sounds like a discussion on computers produced around the time of this episode, 1984. That’s not actually the case: The term “Fifth Generation Computer” in this …

So, I Tried The McDonalds Szechuan Sauce For The First Time In 20 Years
This weekend a visiting friend and I decided to grab a snack at McDonalds. He proposed some nuggets which got me thinking this might be a good chance for me to actually go and give that Szechuan sauce a try. I only haven’t had the stuff in, oh, 20 years, since the original 1998 Mulan …

How The Current World-Record Speedrun For Super Mario Bros. Was Possible
I’m not one to care too much for speed runs in games – while there are ardent followers of these record attempts, I find them an interesting curiosity at best. That being said, the ways in which players figure out nuances of the games in order to shave off fractions of seconds and achieve new …

Playing Catch Up – An Update
I’m finally getting back into the writing groove, damn near a month after the slow down in production began. That’s awesome just on the point I’m finally getting back to writing for the site, which I honestly do enjoy, but it also means I can finally cover things that I’ve been behind on sharing – …

The Launch Of Progress MS-08
I know, I’m behind on just about everything, but I didn’t want to pass up a chance to show a good old Soyuz launch – this one from back on February 13th carrying Progress MS-08 to the International Space Station for a standard resupply mission. It successfully docked 2 days later on February 15th. All …

The Return Of The McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce Insanity – With Bonus Delusions Of Grandeur!
Back in October, McDonalds re-released their 1998 Szechuan sauce in conjunction as part of a promotion for their new buttermilk crispy chicken tenders. This promotion was heavily themed in a style similar to the cartoon Rick and Morty, a cartoon which early in 2017 had made mention of the long-gone Szechuan sauce, resulting in many …

How I Grew To Love The Typewriter
It’s well known that I like to go out to thrift shops around in Memphis hunting for things that may be useful, or otherwise interesting to own . While I was out on one of these hunts in late 2016 I stumbled across something that I originally thought was some kind of older computer printer. …

What’s Coming For March 2018 On Xadara
As I mentioned previously, February was a very very light month for me here – i wrote barely anything for the site! It isn’t that I didn’t want to, I just didn’t feel like keeping my usual pace – something I hope to not be the case this month. This month will mark 11 years …

The Logistics Of Overnight Shipping
Right now I’m waiting rather impatiently for a box to be delivered to my front door. It contains an item which I’ve been wanting for a good while, and will certainly be worth ordering. The item is being shipped via FedEx, the massive freight company that happens to be located here in Memphis. The company …

When You Just Don’t Feel Like Working On Your Own Website – An Update
Anyone taking a look at this site will notice something – I have barely written anything in damn near 3 weeks! I’ve gone from nearly every single day writing at least one article, if not more, to barely getting one out every few days. What’s happened? Honestly, nothing… nothing I can put my finger on. …

Small YouTube Channels Didn’t Cause The Adpocalypse
We’re going to step back just a tad to 2017 and the event on YouTube known as the “Adpocalypse.” The Adpocalypse was a major slashing in income earned on YouTube from advertising, due to multiple factors, the greatest of which being ads simply not being run on certain videos deemed unsuitable, due to reasons we …
