Destiny 2: Homecoming Trailer

This is the first trailer I’ve watched for Destiny 2 since it’s announcement earlier this year, and all I have to say is, I like what I see.

I genuinely enjoyed Destiny, for what it was worth to me, and while I do feel the game had some major flaws in both it’s own design, and in the way content was released for it, I still was able to enjoy the gameplay for what it was, especially when new content was released in The Taken King and Rise Of Iron expansions.

That being said, I was hoping the game would go on the original “10 year” plan that was first announced – instead, it went for about 3,  which is still fine enough, seeing what I have seen here.

My major concern was that, like so many other games, Destiny 2 would be too different from what the original game was in terms of mechanics and raw gameplay. Thankfully, this doesn’t look like the case here, as it seems Destiny 2 will play like the original game, but improved upon (at least, we can hope so), which is what I feel game sequels should always be like – different enough, but still familiar.

That being said, the actual video and the mission it shows look promising: to fight in the Tower social area, where many a Guardian fireteam has started countless missions from, is naturally gripping – to explore more of the tower during the desperate fight is equally cool – I finally know what the social sectors really look like, which is about what I expected, given the multiplayer areas and all in the 1st game showing some of this.

I know trailers always show off the best, and it will be different when I play it, but still, I like what I see, and this feels “right” for Destiny. Who knows, this might be that rare game I buy at launch – you never know.
