Apollo 6 Preflight Briefing – 1968 NASA Film

We have a quick one for you here today – a 1968 film in preparation for the mission of Apollo 6 covering the details on the planned mission. As mentioned before, Apollo 6 was intended to be basically a repeat of Apollo 4, the first test of the Saturn V rocket. That plan didn’t pan out as well as intended, as Apollo 6 suffered many odd problems along its flight.

Fuel line failures, Pogo oscillations, a failure of the 3rd stage engine to restart (something likely due to the same type of fuel line failure that caused an issue on the second stage, according to some reports), and insulation falling off the SLA panels during the launch… Apollo 6 was a mess, yet it was a successful mess!

This film, as I mentioned, shows the original mission plan. It’s worth checking out, certainly, to know what should have but didn’t happen.
