Destiny 2: Forsaken – E3 Story Reveal Trailer

Might as well cover this one while it’s still somewhat hot – here we have the trailer for the next expansion to Destiny 2, this one titled “Forsaken.”

Given the track record for Destiny 2 content in the public eye, I’m not expecting too much from this one. Yeah, I still play Destiny.. sometimes.. when I get around to gaming, which is rare these days for reasons I just can’t actually put my finger on.

The trailer looks good. Of course it does, it’s Bungie / Activision. It shows off the new primary antagonists of the Forsaken story, a group of Awoken from the Reef, and what looks to be the outright murder of  Cayde-6, one of the central characters to the Destiny “story” (what exists of it, anyway), someone who’s quite the fan favorite for many reasons.

This little bit has become the big clickbait topic of choice for all the kids on YouTube, talking about how horrible it is that  they killed Cayde-6, or speculating on what all is going on. You know, the kind of stuff that really grinds my gears for how desperate it is for views and attention.

The DLC drops September 4th. You have 2 and a half months to wait, we will probably get more trailers in the meantime that let us know what’s going on, and it’s highly unlikely Bungie would actually kill off a character like this in any meaningful way. Hell, he’s a damned android, his “light” per the story could damn well be transferred to another body, I would imagine, thus making his death pointless beyond looking cool in the trailer, even if that’s what all actually went on.

I mean, I know I’m one to talk with how I cover random things, but some people take this stuff way too seriously, rather than just enjoying a bit of a tease and going back to enjoying the game.. which is funny, because all I ever see are complaints about Destiny 2. If they hate the game as much as they do, why do they care so much about that part of this trailer?

Ah, whatever. Enough of that, here’s the trailer. Enjoy.
