Right now it’s 11:30 P.M. I’ve got 30 minutes to figure out what I want to write about before it’s tomorrow and I effectively fail my personal challenge to write at least one article per day for September.
Well, since I don’t have much time, why not a quick write-up on just why I am doing an article a day for this month? Seems fitting and something I could write quickly.
It really isn’t too complex of a reason – I simply think a blog entry a day is a good thing to do. It’s my personal goal, and while I succeeded in this goal in previous months, most of the time this isn’t the case.
Of course, there’s a bit of an oddity to the idea of an article per day in just what does that actually mean? One article per day of the month, so that I have 30 articles for a 30 day month? That means I could write 3 in a day, like I did yesterday, and have a surplus so that I could skip a day like today and still be ahead in the total number written.
That’s not how I’m doing things this month, though – when I say an article per day, I mean something, anything, written in every 24 hour period. The 3 articles I published yesterday count just for yesterday – they mean nothing today, which is why I’m working so quickly to get this one out before the stroke of midnight.
Personal goals like this help me better understand how I manage my time and also provide nice samples of me writing under pressure. Certainly, it’s organic writing about a vague subject in this case, but it still works well to show my thoughts in their most raw written form, which is actually something I take a bit of pride in with my writing.
Back to the main subject of an article a day, I feel it’s just the right rate for me and how I wish to discuss what I choose to here – a steady stream of thoughts on various subjects designed to appeal to whoever might like that given topic and wish to read what I have to say on it.
Of course, that would be the reason behind most any blog, but for me, I take this ethos as a key element to how I write and how I run this website.
I’ll probably do more entries like this in the near future. I enjoy these little introspective moments.
