Repairing Broken Links On The “Psycho Family” Documentary Articles

One of the older articles I’ve written here that tends to get steady traffic is the April 2017 article I wrote on the release of the Documentary for the Psycho Series by YouTube user McJuggernuggets. This (and a review article which, oddly, never seems to get hits – go figure) happened to include links to the official website of the documentary so people could watch it. I figured this wouldn’t be an issue, the doc was hosted on what looked like a decent site that wouldn’t have issues hosting such independent content.

I was wrong.

I got curious and checked yesterday, seeing more hits on the article, and decided to check it out – give it a once over, maybe fix any little errors I found in it, and just polish it up. Naturally, for curiosity sake, I decided to click on the link I provided in the article and found out it was deader than dead! Not only that, but even the preview trailer that was uploaded to YouTube was taken down.

I just now looked up the group, Go90, and discovered that it was taken down by Verizon in July of this year, so, it looks like I was quick enough at discoveing this issue (only a few months late) so at least I wasn’t directing to a dead site for too long! Go90 was owned by Verizon, and long story short it was decided to shut down the site, and with that closure went the “official” source of the Psycho Family documentary.

The good news, there were fan uploads aplenty, and I could easily link to one of those which is exactly what I did. While I’d rather share an official upload, if such isn’t available why not a secondary one when the original is gone? Better than linking to a dead site, after all.

So, as it stands people who find the article will be able to watch the doc. I really do find it an interesting story in and of itself and worth a watch even for people who may not know anything about the Psycho Series.

As for this article itself, it’s just another bit of insight on the realities of being a blogger and the problems one can face when liking to 3rd party sites – ya never know when something might just disappear, so check your popular previous content often and fix these little issues where you may find them.

That is, if you care about your previous content.
