What’s Coming For 2019

I’m a bit late to the party writing this one up, but as is tradition for the first post of the new year I’m taking to writing my possibly overly optimistic plans for the next 365 days or so.

Right, let’s get to it.

2018 proved to be a rough year, much like 2017. My goal was to focus more on the fun and games and crazy classic technology that I love so much – the root of this sites existence. While I did keep that going for a while, the end result was, as mentioned previously, a complete breakdown of the “writing groove” I had going on. After a massive deviation from what I intended to write about, I knew I had to take a break.

That break is over, and I’m ready to get to what I had planned for 2018 and making it happen finally. This is it, a major focus on all the core stuff. Yeah, I say it every single time I write these update posts, but this time I mean it. Totally. Not like those last times… Okay obviously that’s me having a bit of a laugh at my own expense but really, I’m finally in a state where getting back to the more normal low key things I like to write about for fun are really all I care about, and that’s great.

That’s the thing about this site – it was never intended to be what it kind of became. It should never have been work, I’ve always done it for fun, but in the past few years I turned it into some form of work.

No more. Going forward if I’m not having fun, I’m not going to bother with it. While that means the end of some content as a focus (space, sadly) this does prove better as it lets me truly enjoy this little slice of the internet that I call my own.

I’ll still make some serious posts, of course, but also more personal stuff – more life updates, etc, where I think they relate – the “Strange Entry To The World Of The Macintosh” series is a prime example of what I’m talking about in that context. Still, some stuff that isn’t best fit with the rest of the site will get its own space soon — more changes are coming, but nothing that will affect the core of what Xadara is.

This is as far as I’ll say right now though. I’m keeping my plans open this time around, but the backlog and more “fun” future plans are the focus this time around. That simple.

Here’s to 2019, the year I start having fun again!
