December 2019 Xbox Live Games With Gold

We’re coming up on December and the end of 2019 and with the new month just days away we have a new set of Games with Gold. Always fun to see what’s to come… well, so long as the games are ones you want.

Right, let’s get to it!

On the Xbox One we have Insane Robots and Jurassic World Evolution.

Insane Robots is a card battle game. Okay, I’m cool with card games, and card games in video game form. The video doesn’t really get much into how the game plays (you can’t even infer much from the clips shown) but it does seem like more than just a typical re-creation of any existing card game, so, I’ll take it for what it is. Might be fun, and a 15 hour campaign sounds like a blast over December.

Next up is Jurassic World Evolution. Oh boy, a Jurassic World game. Is it good? Is it bad? Oh, it’s a simulation style game, where you control the park. Okay, that’s actually pretty cool. I enjoy these kinds of games, when done correctly, so we’ll see how this one goes.

On the Xbox 360 we have Toy Story 3 and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD.

Oh boy, Toy Story 3. I liked the movie, and as I say with all these Disney games, they may be fun for adults, but certainly would be targeted more for kids than anyone else. That’s fine though, but I can imagine plenty of people passing on this one. Whatever. As always, I say take it for what it is and at least give it a try, maybe.

Lastly is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD. Damn that’s a long title. It’s a sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and as such if you have any opinions on that title I’d imagine they would stand pretty well here, give or take. It’s, as I always say, something I’ll at least give a try. I do like Castlevania, but I know these games are a bit different from the traditional formula… by a lot.

Well, I can’t say it’s the best assortment. Honestly, it’s pretty average, but a balanced average — what’s been presented could be a fun departure from the normal titles many will be focusing on this holiday season, but I know most will simply complain, as is the nature of people; especially kids on the internet.

I wonder what January 2020 will bring us…
