What’s Coming For 2020 On Xadara

Here we go, the first post of 2020 and of course it’s the obligatory “What’s Coming” post. You can’t say I’m not starting off optimistically, right? Right, let’s begin.

First thing I’d say is it stands right now I’m hoping to keep up with my post schedule. It really has made things better on a whole. I still feel a bit of a rush to write content from time to time, but that’s due to me always having ideas compounded with my anxiety going sky high when writing on some topics — I prepare an article and next thing you know it’s later that day and I’ve gotten nothing done. I need to work on that, honestly, but as I always say, that’s another story…

I want to continue the ground work done over the past 5+ years of this sites life and keep it a continuing log of my thoughts on technology, gaming, and other hobbies and interests of mine while simultaneously providing little snapshots of my life. This is, of course, both the good and the bad, especially with my social commentary — it’s in my nature to feel quite strongly about some things, especially the more I see others post about a given topic on social media or discuss it out in the wild. That’s just something about me that will never change. Get used to it. 🙂

However, I do want to expand what I write about in a few ways. I’ve mentioned many times I want to do game reviews and that feeling has not changed — I just haven’t found the time quite yet. Still, I think the almost throwback nature of text-based game reviews will be oddly unique in today’s YouTube trendwhore driven world, and will give me a good chance to actually play a bunch of games, both new and old, that I’ve been neglecting for years now.

I really want to get back to playing all these ratty old games.

There’s other stuff I’d like to do as well. My “How To Care For Your Xbox One Or PlayStation 4 Console” article was an example of a set of guides I’d like to write going forward on game hardware of all types and era’s; some of it being more casual-cautionary like that entry, others being more encyclopedic, in any case them all stemming from my experience as both a life long gamer and years at my current job doing.

I really do love gaming, but it is, at current, an incredibly frustrating hobby to be social in, given quite a few aspects which I hope to get into in the upcoming weeks. Quite honestly, there is quite a bit I wish to vent about on a great many subjects and have been putting off, but I think now is as good a time as ever for this, as once I do that I’ll be free to focus on the things I really enjoy, having said my peace about those other things.

Don’t get me wrong — I’m a happy, positive person, but I’m also a realist, honest with myself and what I think — outspoken almost to a fault, and have quite a few pet peeves which I can’t just ignore and have to let out.

Lastly, comes needing to make all the above, the past, and what more I’ve yet to even plan to do become navigable. I’ve done some work on making a system that a user can navigate on here to find content, and I hope to expand and improve on that, to a point where the site will contain entire subsections containing meticulously categorized indexes of everything that fits into that category.

I just wanted to use the Captain Midnight slide again, for old times sake. 😀

Basically, while Xadara will still remain a blog at its core for the foreseeable, I want it to be more like a “normal” site when you visit first — sure, the blog feed will be there, but you will be presented with a proper introduction as to what to expect, some places to start, and certainly a “best of” section.

Funny, when you write it down it doesn’t seem like much, but when I think to what ideas I have (and what limited time I’ve got) well, there’s a lot to do in the next 365+ days (2020 is a leap year after all so I’ve got that going for me.)

More to come, as always.
