Sorry For The Technical Difficulties: Blame WordPress And Jetpack — Again

I honestly don’t even know this this post will actually get published, let alone shared, as currently I’m unable to get the “new post” page on Xadara to load. Well, that is, unless I disable the Jetpack plugin — a very helpful tool (practically mandatory for any serious WordPress blogger) which helps with statistics collection, post sharing, and improves a few other aspects of WordPress globally.

Yeah, if I disable Jetpack guess what? I can load the page fine. I also lose all those nice features, however, and I’d rather not deal with that, so as it stands I’m kind of at a loss as to what to do.

Right now I’m using the wordpress.com editor to write this post. Yeah, even though my blog is self hosted the fact that it is a WordPress blog with Jetpack means I can manage it (and other WordPress installations) via wordpress.com itself which I’ll admit is pretty cool, but nothing I’d normally use.

Damn, I’m starting to sound like an advertisement, aren’t I? I don’t mean to, I just prefer to explain things in a bit of detail.

My point is right now things are in a weird semi-broken state which has prevented me from writing what I planned today. I hate when things like this happen, as it throws off my writing groove and kills the “entry a day” flow I try to maintain. Ah well, at least I’m getting this out, right?

Right now the Jetpack website won’t load correctly, either, which is making me think it’s an issue with that service at the core, which is again why I question if things will work for me or not in posting this — I may be screwed on it getting shared or even published, but it’s at least worth a try, right?

This isn’t the first time Jetpack has screwed me over, either. A few years ago it seems to have broken many websites and while that issue was fixed quickly enough, it demonstrated just how dangerous this plugin can be when things go wrong.

Sure, that’s a rare case, but when it does happen it’s always at the worst time which, on the internet, is really any time.

Ah well. Hopefully things will work themselves out and it will be business as usual… At least this gave me a reason to use the wordpress.com editor and to be honest, I kind of like it.
