July 2020 Xbox Live Games With Gold

I’m not going to lie – I didn’t even want to write this one. I know I’m normally one to be optimistic about the games coming each month, but for July 2020 the selection is a joke. Yes, I’m saying that. I certainly always try to look on the good side of what’s being offered each month, but I swear this is the worst selection to come out of the Games with Gold program in the 5 years I’ve been playing on Xbox.

Let’s… get the video out of the way.

On the Xbox One we have WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship and Dunk Lords.

Another fucking racing game. Yes, it’s a rally game, which is more my kind of racing title but I just can’t be arsed to give a damn. I’m sick of racing games, no joke. Next time had better be something at least enjoyable in the first half of next month.

Following that we have… a fucking “party” game. A sports party game. A Basketball game. You know how I normally try to look for the best things I can in a game? I ain’t doing that here. I have zero interest to even try this. I don’t fucking like Basketball, I don’t like “party” games which we’ve already had too damn many of recently, and this doesn’t look like anything I’ll really enjoy. A waste of a game slot. If you think it’s neat, cool, but I just don’t want to bother.

On the Xbox 360 come Saints Row 2 and JUJU.

Okay, Saints Row. Cool. This is actually something worth playing. A bit dated, sure, but fuck it. I’ll take it. A GTA clone that became its own thing, what’s not to love?

Lastly, Juju. Okay, a mascot platformer. Alright, I know nothing about this game but hell, I’ll give it a shot. I enjoy platformers and this looks halfway decent so yeah… can’t complain here. Well, I could, but I won’t given how shit the Xbox One offerings are.

So yeah, a really piss poor lineup. The Xbox One end is pathetic and the Xbox 360 side is acceptable. Average, maybe.

Again, I normally try to be optimistic about these game offerings, but this month I just can’t be. This is bad, even to me.
