We’re at the 9th day of Shitsmas, and for this wonderful day the Nerd opens up an Atari 2600 game – Porky’s, based loosely on the 1981 film of the same name.
This is actually one of the longer Shitsmas episodes and, quite honestly, is a complete review and really feels like a proper AVGN episode. In this one the Nerd actually covers all the critical aspects of the game. It is, after all, an Atari 2600 game so it isn’t that long of a game, but it is complex in its own right, involving various interconnected stages of puzzle solving along with skilled character movement.
It’s a multiple screen game, and the Nerd takes time to explain what to do in each section after he vents his usual frustrations about them. He also compares it to the film where necessary to demonstrate how, honestly, reasonably the game does follow the film, give or take some liberties.
Add in some typical jokes and references and you have what’s honestly probably my favorite Shitsmas episode. It’s pretty good, really!
