November 2021 Xbox Live Games With Gold

Halloween was yesterday, which means it’s now November, and a new month means a new Games with Gold lineup! It’s getting cold outside so why not stay indoors and keep the house warm with your Xbox while you try out some free games?

…okay, that’s the most excited I could be about this. Fair warning, this isn’t too exciting a lineup, but there are some positives -Let’s take a look.

In the modern lineup we have Moving Out and Kingdom Two Crowns.

Moving Out actually looks like a bit of fun. As time goes on I’ve really grown to enjoy goofy games that you can hop in and hop out of without getting super invested, and this looks like one of those kinds of titles. Moving furniture in that kind of world looks like a fun challenge. You really can make a game out of anything if you try.

Kingdom Two Crowns does seem intriguing, but man, am I ever tired of pixel-art graphic styles. Beyond that, however, we have what may be a fun side scrolling adventure title. We’ll see — I may try this one on the 16th and report back, since I’m genuinely curious on what it’s actually like. Sure, I could watch a video on it but why spoil the surprise?

In the classic lineup we have Rocket Knight and LEGO Batman 2 DC Superheroes, both Xbox 360 titles.

Okay, I was a Sega Genesis kid in the early 90’s, and you bet your ass I played the hell out of Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster! I, amazingly, didn’t know a new game had been made, so this one certainly is one I will give a try — it’s the one I’m most excited for this time around for sure, but it could equally be a disappointment. I guess the only way to find out will be for me to try it.

Lastly is LEGO Batman 2 DC Superheroes. As you can guess if you know me, I don’t give a damn about this. It’s certainly the “for kids” game in this lineup, but ignoring that it’s another Lego game, and it’s bloody superhero stuff which I couldn’t care less about. Really, it all bores me and has over-saturated the entertainment market. Consider this dragging the whole lineup down. Honestly, I probably won’t even bother redeeming this one — I truly have zero interest.

And that’s that. A few interesting titles, one mega waste of space, but otherwise, eh, a little below average. The peanut gallery in the YouTube comments has their usual complaints about this lineup, and while it’s not a good one I can’t say I fully agree. As always, these are generally younger people who just don’t want to pay for major titles like Call of Duty — well rounded gamers are more likely to take these games as a chance to try something new for no real additional cost, like I do. Gotta be optimistic — you never know when a random title will become one of your favorite games.

As always, more to come next month.
