What Have I Been Up To, Anyway?

Blimey, it’s near the end of 2025! I’m not going to say it was a quick year, but it was a somewhat eventful one, and one filled with more learning experiences. In this piece, however, we will just focus on the broad strokes of how I’ve been occupying my time beyond work – that is, at least in the past few months, what I’ve been enjoying and working on creating behind the scenes, as well as the status of ongoing projects.

Firstly, YouTube. Yep, that’s still been a big focus. Still live streams, most of them about the lolcow evangelical that is Kent Hovind. Why him? I don’t know, but he gets the best… worst.. the most dynamic reactions from me. He’s so simultaneously great at what he does and terrible at everything he does to not become an interesting case study in the strange world that is the online life of narcissistic religious zealots. That, ostensibly, is what the subject of any given livestream usually is — that is to say, it, they are live reactions to his own content, but they are more than that, as my audience, of course, watches the streams for me, and my interaction with them all. Indeed, I’ve got a nice following of regular watchers whom I absolutely adore, and they always contribute to the stream when they can.

I don’t mean financially, either, although some are generous enough to do such — know, I mean, their opinions, their knowledge, their own thoughts and reactions to what’s being said, all of it adds to the stream as a total product and I try to include as much of, if not all of it, where possible, in the stream, and maintain a very active presence with my community. That may be my strongest element is the fact I pay attention to my chat. I mean, they are who I’m streaming to, are they not? They are kind of the priority, and I would think any modest streamer would focus on them, but maybe I’m just an oddball in that way… It’s nice to be small enough to be able to keep up with my audience, at least, especially since most of them in the “core” group are also in my Discord. That’s a plus.

I need to write more pieces on that general topic soon enough, but it suffices to say I’m happy with streaming, if a little burnt out.

On the gaming front, I took a small break from but have moved right back into Guild Wars 2. With the Visions of Eternity expansion, we got new Elite Specializations, new story content, new maps, and some more system changes and quality of life improvements in my favorite MMORPG to keep me wanting to play, so there’s that. I’m, of course, taking my sweet time with the new story content, but will get current likely this coming weekend. Otherwise, yeah, just continuing with the game I loved so many years ago then just.. gave up on.. before rediscovering a few years back.

That leads to the game I’ve also been playing in between GW2 sessions and the rest of life: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night! Yep, the underdog in the series from back in 1997, for the PlayStation, I’ve been playing that nearly every day thanks to randomizer tools which exist for the game, modifying it in new and unique ways that are just enough to keep me coming back to a game that has always been one of my favorites. Playing these are helping me develop what amount to speedrunner skills, when combined with studying gameplay from the best of the best at the game. While I’ll never be at that level, I do take joy in getting better at the original game, and becoming more proficient at solving the puzzles generated by the randomizers. I plan on writing some pieces on that subject soon.

Lastly, I’d like to mention in an admittedly vague way that I’ve been working in a more detailed way on a science fiction story idea I’ve had, in various forms, since high school. A bit obsessed with worldbuilding (when have I ever not been) I’ll admit, but I’m nearing a point where even just a short story based in this universe could actually be coming sooner than later. Maybe. Hopefully. Who knows. Maybe I’ll spend another 6 months writing a compendium for the universe, a production bible, if you will, before making anything for public consumption… that would be like me.

So, that’s really that. Yeah, there is more going on but these are the major things to say that have been going on. What else is to come? Hopefully me writing more. I know I’ve been saying it for 5 years now, but I’ve truly been neglecting this site and I hate that. This place should be a home for everything I do, and instead it’s a ghost town.

I plan on changing that this month. Stick around, more to come, as always.

…Yes, that includes AVGN Episode Reviews.
