Today, January 6th, 2026, marks 5 years since one of the more wild events in recent history — the insurrection at the capitol building in Washington, D. C. where thousands of absolute morons who didn’t comprehend that Cheeto Mosellini had lost the 2020 election cried conspiracy and, in my eyes, commited outright treason by invading a critical government building, looting and destroying property and threatening to kill politicians present as the Electoral College (a system that’s totally fucked in its own right that I’ve been a decade overdue for writing a piece on) were being counted and the election being certified.
Surprisingly this only resulted in the death of one of the terrorists.. I mean, “brave patriots” involved. Amazing, given under any other circumstance this would have likely turned into a bloodbath. At the time of this happening I actually said “good. Maybe this will be what finally gets things stable again” but no, it was just one last desperate gasp before the MAGAts would rebuild and end up somehow getting president carrot a second term. My optimism was dashed, primarily because, to me, we went to easy on these people and their seddition. It should have been treated as close to treason as possible, but alas, it was only a modest punishment for those who were indicted for it — many escaping any kind of justice all together.
Prosecutions happened, yes, but of course the moron in chief pardoned those people, because that’s what you do with domestic terrorists, apparently, is let them get away with treason. That’s just the way Amerikkka works now, right?
It’s funny, too, to get pardons, because that requires an admission of guilt.. but half of the decrepit MAGA braintrust still claims the event was the act of people on the left! Of course, since when did we expect idiots who would vote for Trump to at all be able to keep their stories straight.
I don’t know. I’ve vented here enough. It was just… an insane moment that somehow just kind of became something in the past decad that’s just a shade above being an outright footnote, when it should have been the end of this group of monsters that are the modern Amerikkkan right.
Happier things to come. At least I’ve published 2 pieces in a row, that’s not happened for a good long while.
