The Return

Hey there. It’s been a while.

Between the copious amounts of live streaming I’ve been doing, a move a few months ago, and plenty of  time spend playing Guild Wars 2, I’ve continued to neglect this website — the place that is supposed to be my home on the web!

Well, that changes today. In a move that’s a combination of me happening to get tired of nearly daily streaming (at least, covering the kinds of content I have been for nearly two years) and the fact that today, July 1st, happens to of course be the start of a new month I figured now would be as good a time as ever to get back to writing more content regularly. New stuff, as well as continuing with the backlog.

Now I know I’ve said this easily a dozen times before over the past 6 years, so what’s different this time? Honestly, not much, yet, at the same time, everything. Day to day life, while stressful, has been improving, and so has my mood and desire to write — I feel like previously I was trying to force myself, but this time, it’s coming as a drive similar to how it was so many years ago…. so, I guess maybe at least one major thing has changed. Maybe. Probably. Sure feels that way.

So what is to come? A little smidge of everything is the plan. The same classic Xadara content combined with a bit more focus on subjects I feel should now have more of a written aspect as well as a spoken one in the form of some of my stream subjects, I’ve got a little bit of everything planned.

Now, how will I keep myself from abandoning this effort, like I have so many others? Well, I think part of the reason that killed my mood to write, beyond life being life over the past half decade, was WordPress itself – namely the “new” writing interface. While I don’t mind the blocks, they do slow me down, and I have to think back and realize that such may have slowly built up frustration in me, at least subconsciously, to a point where I began to dislike writing and, combined with life getting in the way, caused my once near daily posts to fall by the wayside. I do hope restoring the classic editor will make things smooth enough for me to not mind bashing out an entry at least every few days.

Additionally, as time has passed AI has found its way even into the once humble WordPress. Nope, let’s nix that, so along with the classic interface there should be a minimum of unwarranted matrix-logic help being offered. To be clear, I’m not against LLM’s and some image generation tools as just that — tools, but I don’t want to take the human out of my writing, that’s for damn sure. My few tries with AI excerpts were enough to tell me no, this doesn’t feel right at all. It was worth a try, at least.

So, that’s really the summary. What exactly is to come? Who knows. Well, I have ideas, as I always say, but you’ll know what those are when I actually get off my lazy ass and publish whatever content comes from those ideas.

We’ll see in a month how things turned out.
