June was quite the interesting month in regards to the slightly odd situation I find myself in having become a major part of the watchdog scene following and calling out convicted felon and wife abuser Kent Hovind. His pathetic tech guy and hired goon Joseph had previously emailed me back in March, and had never actually replied to my very detailed response to his attempt to both threaten me for commenting on Kent and the attempt to gather personal information by offering a trip to their cult compound. No thank you, I’m smarter than that, Joseph.
Move from mid March to June 20th, and, following me putting out a video showcasing a culturally insensitive “joke” from Kent that many could, and have, considered outright racist I decided while I was at things to send a much delayed email to Joseph offering an idea I had been milling over for a while.
Let me set the stage — it’s well known that 06452-017… I mean, Kent Hovind, loves to “debate” people online. By “debate” we mean run his script and peacock around while playing pigeon chess, but what matters here is that not one but two people in my community would be happy to go ahead and “debate” Kent… but they want to on my YouTube channel. This idea came about, honestly, before my move at the beginning of the year, and thought while I was having a productive Saturday morning that I should go ahead and propose such to Joseph.
The email was very wordy and haphazard, to be sure, because that’s just how I type. This wasn’t a dissertation (hence why it didn’t start “Hello, my name is Kurisu Yamato”) but the summation of it was “hey, I’m offering to host some debates, perhaps I could provide Kent a venue for people who otherwise wouldn’t debate him because of the obvious biases of the moderators and hosts Kent prefers to use.
At the end, I added in an update regarding the proposed “debate” between Kent and I (which I wished to format more as an open discussion as I prefer such to the conventional “debate” back and forth) which, as you can see in the forthcoming email text, was ignored.
Because of course it was. Because they know I won’t play their game of the debate having to be some exact way for Kent to, as mentioned above, run his script and peacock — that is, just present his crap and not actively engage in the conversation being had. Hence me focusing on the idea of such a “debate” between he and I being primarily open discussion..

Hello Joseph!
It's been a little while so I thought I'd get back in touch with
you regarding a few things. You never did get back to me after I replied
to your last email so here I am again hoping to catch up!
I see Kent has been a little upset on not having debated again
recently, even though he's had a few and indeed had one last night,
which I think in his stream the other day you did remind him was coming.
You may recall as JoeCool and PlutoPilot have said that they are open to
debates with Kent, but with the choice of venue being my channel -- that
is to say, me handling moderation.
Now, I know what you, and Kent will think and say to this -- How do
you know you will be treated fairly?
Think about that for a moment and realize that's the same way many
who may wish to debate Kent but choose not to may feel about the usual
venue chosen -- namely, for many years, Standing For Truth, being the
platform and host for those debates -- and have seen how the obvious
biases that Donny has play out.
Of course, Kent has done a debate somewhat recently on Modern Day
Debates, which, while James is quite honestly a terrible debate host who
platforms horrible people, was at least a little more balanced. Still, a
bit more methodical and more focused on itself than it is the
discussion, now isn't it? There was also the channel that the
FirstAmender debates happened on, the host obviously being at least
another strong Christian, which was fair enough but still was a little
bit biased against 1st Amender being able to complete his counterpoints
in some cases.
  I bring these up to stress that I pay attention to debate
platforms, the feelings of the guests and the audience, and am most
certainly open to the idea of providing what I playfully call an "arena"
for such discussion to happen in a way that everyone (hopefully) will
feel comfortable with and feel good debate and discourse will have
happened on.
  A big aspect of various side hobbies of mine is communication, and
as strange as it sounds coming from me, an extreme critic of Kent's, I
want nothing more than for him to get all the debate opportunities he
normally wouldn't get due to choice of venue. There are two basically
ready to go, with the only delay from now to the debates happening is
both participants agreeing to do such and being mutually available --
unlike MDD, or SFT and the like, there really wouldn't be a "lead in"
time where things have to be scheduled a month or more in advance unless
someone needed such time. I know Kent wouldn't as he has his complete
presentation ready to go, so, as Kent enjoys saying that he could go on
all week debating someone, I could actually facilitate that with ease!
  Again, I truly want everyone who has any desire to debate Kent to
have the chance in an arena they feel comfortable in; where they feel
they will be given a fair chance, and I wish to provide the same
fairness to Kent. Equal time, a limiting of perceived interruptions,
focusing on topics at hand, would be the ideal situation, of course.
  For what it's worth, I prefer open discussion to segmented back and
forth. That being said, short introduction periods, short counterpoint
sections, then open discussion are the ideas I have as I work out this
debate concept, as a standard for how I'd most prefer to do things. Open
discussion is where the actual meat of debate is, and is where things
get chaotic most of all, but having seen a great many debates all
around, including many of Kent's, I feel I can see when things get a bit
off the rails and preempt such, keeping things going smoothly and
efficiently.
  That's, at least broadly, my idea and offer. Indeed, these could
provide "quick and easy" hour to hour and a half debates for Kent. I'm
not going to try to hold him for 2 and 3 hours with Q and A from the
audience, etc, unless he specifically wanted to do such as the debate
wound down. Just a focus on the key discussion, him being provided a
fair opportunity to share what he has to say in contest to opponents he
may otherwise never have.
  In case you are concerned about me getting involved, which has
happened on other debates and discussions, I've no interest in "jumping
in" save for handling moderation duties fairly. I've sadly no way to
convince you of this will without an actual debate being moderated by me
but you should know I am fully able to compartmentalize aspects of my
personal and digital life -- that includes me being an outspoken critic
of Kent with me facilitating him spreading his teachings to possibly a
new audience if things were to grow.
So, let me know, and yes, I know we had spoken about he and I
having a debate, which I would frame as a discussion, about cosmology,
which you felt I was "running away from" when I was moving a few months
back -- no, I'd still like to have such, however, as I stress I see it
as purely an intellectual discussion as opposed to a proper debate, and
I dare say it would me more enjoyable for a time to personally
facilitate a chance for more open interaction between both sides. Maybe
after a few hosted debates and a sense of mutual trust such a
discussion, advertised as such, will feel appropriate, especially since
I will have assisted Kent in getting at least 2 debates added to his total.

As you can see, verbose, a little odd, but a sensible piece, especially if you know the particular people we are discussing.
The reply from Mr. Shackleford was…. terse. Polite, but perhaps a little too broad. This came the following Monday, June 22nd.

Now, something I can’t sadly show here because the entire source for the reply email is madness is that this was sent not from the techsupport email address but again from the “main” address.
Now, formatting of the signatures and all that aside, let’s note the sheer terseness of this email and that this reply seems all encompassing. So, Joseph / Kent have decided no one not just the entirely reasonable prospect for a new debate venue, but also the continuation of otherwise delayed negotiation of a debate between myself and Kent in any form.
Let me ask, seriously, if Kent’s arguments were so strong, and he cared so much about these debates, would he not jump at an opportuinty to have not one but two ready and waiting opponents? Obviously not, not unless it’s on a biased platform, which tells you Kent knows his own words and his precious PowerPoint slides win over no one and are as pathetic as we all see them as. He, and his friends, are oh so scared of being treated unfairly on the scary atheist channel, not caring that I would be the only one who does treat them, or anyone else, fairly.
It’s funny, when you don’t want to go on the channels they want to play Pigeon chess with Kent, you’re a coward, but when they are invited to a channel with an option for not one but two debates ready and waiting…. well, you see what their reaction is.
All I could do, in the end, was, before finally blocking their domain, send one simple message.
Pathetic cowards.What else is there to say? When offered an opportunity for what the cult leader so desperately wants, they run away.
Which is fine. Show your pettiness. I come with receipts, you come with some musty old book and more racist jokes.
A few days later Joseph would reply (at 6:40 in the morning, mind you) to a totally unrelated to the email post where I show off people defending his bosses racist joke from June 19th, which I responded to in an off the cuff video where I said what needed to be said, likely made some stupid jokes and then went on about my business. It should be noted my video whic the post I made was showing comments replying to, was made before I even emailed Joseph originally… so, no Joseph, since you can’t comprehend time, my sharing of kent’s racism was done before i even sent you the email I know time can be a complicated subject, but first came the video, then came the email, then days later cam you making a pointless reply to try to save face because you know, just like my last exchange with you, that I would share the contents publicly.
These people are insane. Obsessed with the boogeyman in the shadows who’s somehow simultaneously running a global conspiracy to lie about reality and defeat their precious gawd, but also so incompetent it can’t even keep Kent in prison for 10 full years, because, you know it was totally a conspiracy and not him willfully violating tax laws. They surround themselves with a shrine to the very thing they hate — “Evolution” which to them is nothing but fake science that goes against their interpretation of the Bible, and seem to spend all day every day, especially in Kent’s case, talking about it. Obsessing over it. It’s their entire lives.
I often get Hovindites, as I call Kent’s followers, telling me he lives rent free in my head, which is one of the more common meme phrases that regressives have latched onto. Sorry, but uh, it seems Evolution and a bout a dozen YouTubeers live “rent free” in Kent’s head since he never shuts up about these subjects or people and brings them up out of the blue, sometimes going on multi-minute long diatribes about these subjects or people in the middle of what are supposed to be sermons.
I’ll continue to monitor these morons when I feel the urge. I have, however, begun to branch my own YouTube channel out into more things I love, and will continue to do so, as well as fight against misinformation and pseudoscience as best I can, among so many other social causes I care for.
