If Twitter Dies, It Dies

There’s been quite a bit of talk today about Elongated Muskrats recent rebranding of Twitter as a company to X Corp, and that apparently there may be an all out rebranding of Twitter to X or something similar. I’ve not looked at the details as I really don’t give a fuck about Musk or Twitter on a whole, but still thought it worth at least commenting on the entire thing, as I understand it, here, since it’s something going on that I do actually have an opinion on.

That opinion is, incidentally, a resounding whatever. It shouldn’t be surprising with the rather “throw shit at the wall and see what sticks” way Musk does things that he wouldn’t care to really keep the Twitter brand, if this is his plan as people seem to say it is. Hell, it isn’t like people have that good of an opinion about Twitter anyway, even before he took it over, so what’s really being lost here? A name? That’s really all it is.

It reminds me of the “a rose by any other name would smell as sweet” line we all know from Romeo and Juliet only in this case the rose is a pile of shit, and by “sweet” one means rancid. The platform honestly won’t change. It will still be the same den of degenerate bullshit it’s always been, with the same entitled clowns thinking you owe them an argument about your own damn tweets, blah blah blah who gives a flying fuck?

Hell, I’m kind of partial to the letter X myself; that may be the only “positive” I can take from this but really, I’ve just been enjoying watching things burn the past year or so and having more fun with birdsite than I have in years. Hey, I finally got that verification badge that I wanted.. and fucking deserved, so there’s that! Sure it may be worthless, but whatever, I finally got it. Fuck yeah.

Really I feel like I should have a lot more to say but I don’t. I’ll find out in the morning if anything major has changed, but beyond wearing a new suit and going by a new name it’s going to be the same cesspool it’s always been. I say kick back and enjoy.

Or don’t. It’s whatever.
