It’s amazing how long it takes to actually fully get over some illnesses. In my case, I’m fighting the tail end of that sinus crud that’s pretty much been pulling me down all month, and while I didn’t miss much work due to it, I haven’t had the energy or drive to write stuff here. …

I, For One, Welcome The Return Of New Coke
I’ve only been wanting to try it for most of my life. Time to explain. We all know the story. Coca-Cola was losing market share in soft drinks to Pepsi. The legendary, nearly century old Coke Formula seemed “stale” to the American populace. Something needed to done, and the answer was to change things. A …

Guess Who’s Been Sick The Past Week? – An Update
Oh yes, it’s time for another one of these posts. As you can tell it’s been kind of dead around here recently, and that’s not for lack of trying. I’ve been rather sick the past few days, in a buildup that’s been about 2 weeks in the making! I’ll keep this brief, but I felt …

Hi There. It’s Been A Crazy Week – An Update
It’s been about a good week since the last post here on Xadara and I felt like updating everyone – at least, in short form – on what’s been going on. It’s been a pretty active and rather chaotic week for me. Between preparing for Free Video Game Day at work (this past Saturday, which …

What’s Coming For May 2019 On Xadara
Oh boy, another one of these. Why do I put myself through this monthly game of “make promises and never deliver them?” Oh, right, because I’m crazy like that. 🙂 Anyway, on to the question – What’s coming for the next month? The answer is exactly what you would expect: Stuff. I’ll put it this …

Why The Serious Topics?
While I have been a little less active this week than the last week, anyone visiting the site will notice that the two most recent articles, one on the sinking of the Titanic and the other on the recent fire at Notre-Dame, are on rather serious subjects – this on a blog which normally covers …

Notre-Dame de Paris: Damaged, But Not Destroyed
Along with history, another subject I’m quite fond of is architecture, and one particular class of building design that captivates me is the “Medieval Gothic” style, predominantly French Gothic architecture, and no building in the world best demonstrates this than Notre-Dame de Paris. The beauty of the building is absolutely indescribable, and it’s been something …

About That Amazing Photo Of A Black Hole
As I’m sure most everyone has seen, a few days ago on April 10th the first photo ever of a Black Hole was released. An object that in effect should be impossible to visualize was captured, thanks to a lucky arrangement of the gasses surrounding the object. The entire story on just how it was …

The Strange Case Of GameAnyone And Auto-Generated Accounts
There are a ton of gaming websites out there. One which I’ve never heard of is gameanyone.com. It appears to be more of a content aggregate site, mainly a place to post gaming related video links from YouTube and the like, alongside it having its own discussion forums, apparently. At least, this is what I …

What’s Coming For April 2019 On Xadara
Yep. A new month is upon us and as always that means another excuse for me to write what amounts to a filler post disguised as an update. Yeah, it’s real content but content that only those who read every post will care about. Then again that’s who it’s targeted at, so I guess it …

The Pains Of TLS / SSL And Old Web Browsers
Considering how many old computers I’ve been messing with recently (only a very few of which I’ve gotten around to writing about) it’s only natural that as part of my trying them out I’d take them for a spin on the web. Yeah yeah, dangerous to do and all that jazz, but when you only …

The Craziest Spam / Scam Email I’ve Ever Received
We all get Spam email. It’s quite simply a fact of the internet. What’s more, the vast, and I mean vast majority of the spam email received is also some kind of scam in some form — be it the classic “Nigerian Prince” scam, the old school “malware in an attachment” email which now will …

Sonic Mania Plus, Giving Destiny 2 A Second Chance, And More – A Gaming Update
I don’t game nearly as much as people would think I do. I sometimes go whole months without any real serious game play happening — hell, the last game I really spent time playing was Red Dead Redemption 2, and that was back in November / December. Oh, sure, I may spend some time while …

Why I Stopped Playing Destiny 2
Long time readers may recall I was pretty big on Destiny 2 last year, playing it pretty regularly and sometimes writing about it here where I felt it relevant. By about May of 2018, though, I just stopped, and haven’t really fired the game back up at all since that time. I figured it’d be …

An Unexpected Entry Into The World Of The Macintosh – Part 5 – Some Free iMacs!
Wow, I’m quite behind on this little series, and so many things have changed in the past 6-9 months regarding all these computers and stuff it’s almost not worth continuing, but whatever, I’m still going to tell it. So, move back to June 2018. It was the same week that I got the G5. At …
